In the scope of its international projects, Genaker has demonstrated the possibilities of the Push-to-Talk (PTT) service in enabling group communications for corporate teams distributed worldwide.
Recent activities have involved PTT communications across a range of devices and countries, such as locations in Americas and Europe, including Genaker’s Headquarters in Barcelona, Spain. The tests have proven the potential of standard-based PTT to deliver fast, easy-to-use and competitive international group communication service. Operators are now able to deliver a key tool to MNC’s (Multi-National Corporates) that wish to coordinate their global workforce in real-time. The demonstrations have further showcased the advances of Genaker’s PTT clients for smartphone platforms such as BlackBerry©, robust Windows Mobile© devices and iPhone©.
Push-to-Talk (or Push-to-Talk over Cellular, PoC) is a service that converts regular mobile devices into walkie-talkies. With this service, end users are able to -in addition to making regular voice calls- stay in touch with their colleagues and peers and instantly exchange voice talkbursts at the push of a button. Supporting both 1-1 and group sessions, it is now easy to coordinate groups of users. A key benefit of the PTT / PoC service is the possibility to leverage a single cellular device, rather than having to carry both the mobile phone and a radio device.
PTT, being a service based on Internet technologies, can be integrated with exciting value-added features such as Location, Presence, Messaging or Task Management features, which are available in the Genaker Fleet Management solution.
Genaker’s Fleet Management solution has been commercially deployed by Tier-1 carriers worldwide, and is today being used by users in the segments of taxi fleets, transportation, utilities, logistics, security and governtment agencies.
